Meet the PERFORMANCE FORUM Jury

Launched in 2009, the PERFORMANCE FORUM was the first trend forum devoted to fabric categories such as BASELAYER, MIDLAYER, SOFTSHELL, 3LAYER, 2LAYER, HIGHDENSITY & LIGHTWEIGHT, SHIRT & PANTS, ATHLEISURE, AND WORKWEAR & HEAVY DUTY as opposed to fashion subjects. The philosophy behind the PERFORMANCE FORUM concept of providing a working tool for designers, buyers, and product managers has basically not changed since the beginning. The three structural pillars are the working nature of the forum, free and exclusive participation of all exhibitors, and finally, the jury consisting of resident and supporting textile experts. As of April 2015, PERFORMANCE DAYS has expanded the jury to include support from the brands to give them a greater voice in the selection process.

ALEXA DEHMEL
started her textile career as a student of ESMOD Design University, Paris, a place she later returned to accept a position as a lecturer. Alexa has many years of experience in the fashion industry and opened Active Sports Design in 2005. Her passion for sports combined with an understanding of what is needed and what works enables her to create great designs – be it for water sports or climbing sports. In 2009, she founded the PERFORMANCE FORUM and has guided its development continuously through the following years. She provides the perspectives of a designer and active woman athlete and her approach towards fabrics is to identify attractive fashion as well as functional products.

CLAUS HABBICHT
started working for a well-known textile brand 30 years ago. In 2005, he founded his own garment consulting agency. As a service provider, he works with active D-A-CH sports like skiing, outdoor, running, fitness, team sports, corporate fashion, and workwear brands for Asian manufacturers (mainly China, Vietnam Cambodia, and Bangladesh) in addition to the European companies. In 2008, he helped develop the concept of PERFORMANCE DAYS and has been an active member of the PERFORMANCE FORUM Jury since 2009. His input often covers the processing of the materials.

LENA WEIMER
assumed her duties at PERFORMANCE DAYS in 2016 as the face of the trade fair for visitors and as the expert for sustainable markets. Since this time, she has been a member of the PERFORMANCE FORUM Jury. As the interface between the fair organization and the trade fair visitors, her job is to inform designers, buyers, and product managers on all aspects of the fair and the innovations presented by the exhibitors. A fan of snowboarding, tennis, and fitness, her approach is to take a consumer perspective on functional textiles..

LISA LECHNER
also joined the PERFORMANCE DAYS team in 2016. She is the voice and contact for the exhibitors and is responsible for generating a maximum pool of submissions. Thanks to her organizational talent, all nominated and later on selected fabrics and accessories physically find their way to the tables at the forum and digitally into the online presentation. Her jury focus is on the material advantages to the consumer. Her hobbies are hiking, yoga and running.

MARCO WEICHERT
has textile expertise in his DNA. A third generation textile agent, he is now CEO of the family run agency based in Munich. After early internships at Burlington in the USA and Pontetorto in Italy, he has developed and sold fashion, sports, and workwear fabrics. He has 20 years of experience working with numerous textile, yarn, and finishing manufacturers mainly from USA, Italy, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and China. His expertise is in the construction, composition, lamination, etc. of the functional fabrics.

STEFANIE SACHEROW
has organized the PERFROMANCE DAYS functional fabric fair since 2010. As contact person for the world of fabrics and accessories, she regularly sees the fabric collections of the international suppliers/exhibitors. As an original member of the PERFORMANCE DAYS family, she has participated in all jury meetings and, therefore, provides a good overview of national and individual supplier strengths. Her main focus during the selection process is to ensure a wide range of representative materials is offered to the designers/buyers.

TOBIAS PICKART
completed his studies in Textile Technology and Management at University of Applied Sciences Reutlingen in 2003. He learned the textile business mainly from a buyer’s perspective while employed at cosmobrandlab AG. Since 2011, he advises designers, buyers, and product managers in the development and procurement of fabrics for their own collections. His deep technical knowledge of fibers and fashion is a positive contribution to the view of the various materials. In his free time, you will find him biking downhill and snowboarding.

ULRIKE ARLT
entered the textile and sports business from the side of sports retail in 1994. She is a well-known figure in the world of sports and textile media, reporting since 1999 about the industry as both a freelance journalist for different brands and ingredient suppliers and on the staffs of well-known media outlets like Textilwirtschaft, SAZ Verlag. The PERFORMANCE FORUM jury values her sports experience and knowledge about publishing and press information. Most recently, she was instrumental in the relaunch of SAZ as a new bilingual sports and fashion magazine.
