Jury's Pick November 2018

This is all about the Focus Topic: WATER – OUR RESPONSIBILITY. Unfortunately, the textile industry is considered as one of the largest consumers of water resources and one of the worst polluters. But for Winter 2020, the mills are demonstrating several new developments in the area of "water conservation". More and more synthetic fibers are dyed in water-free processes, using methods called "dope dye" or "solution dying." Furthermore, there is now a water-free DWR treatment. Also important: Some manufacturers are providing new fleece fabrics, where the roughened side is made from biodegradable tencel or lyocell, which does not release microplastics so easily.

Jury's Pick April 2018

The many aspects of the topic of cooling are explained in great detail. The structure of yarns and fabricssuch as additives in the yarn or fabric treatmentsare of key significance. The latest prints support cooling by blocking heat radiation on the outside. Others support the rapid distribution of perspiration. Carbon, graphene, minerals, and activated carbon are often used in these products. Still other ways to achieve cooling rely on the use of PCMs (Phase Change Materials).
