This table shows fabrics used for the outer layer of the functional garment system. 2.5layer are fabrics consisting of a outer fabric plus a lamination or coating plus a print or flock. 3layer fabrics are constructions of a outer fabric plus lamination/coating and print/flock. Both are  tapeable, waterproof, and breathable. These highly functional fabrics are used for jackets or pants.

3Layer April 2018

Very light, extra breathability, and a natural feel are the focus of the new 3-layer fabricsGrades under 100g are ever more popular and these technical wonders have top values of 40.000 or 50.000 g/qm/24h in terms of breathability. The smooth and satiny finishes are very stylish, sometimes appearing pearl and sometimes more shiny. They seem made for fashion rather than as a top functional fabric for weatherproof jackets. You now find 2.5 layer fabrics also in this category.

3Layer November 2017

Extreme performance: No moisture is left to remain on the skin with these breathability ratings as high as 50 and 60K. The new laminates are robust. Those under 100g are very light and stylish. Many of the "100% Jury Likes" given in this category were in recognition of the sustainable designs like the use of recycled fibres and the possibility to completely recycle laminates. The new looks such as 3D embossing, denims, digital prints, or jacquards provide these very technical fabrics with a lifestyle note.
