Dimpora is a Swiss tech startup, producing porous fluorine-free membranes which are combining high waterproofing and breathability. Bio-based and biodegradable membranes are under development.
In 2017, Greenpeace released a report condemning the use of per- and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) in the clothing industry. Notably, PFCs can be contained in the membranes incorporated into outwear. Those chemicals revealed to be extremely hazardous and persistent in the environment. As a matter of fact, accumulation of PFCs were found in the liver of polar bears and in human blood, as well as in secluded mountains and lakes. It is therefore of the utmost importance that nature enthusiasts keep their beloved outdoor spaces PFCs free.
In light of these recent findings, dimpora strives to put science at the service of nature, to make use of the latest knowledge available to ensure that those appreciating nature have the possibility to act accordingly.
