The GreenRise® zipper is made primarily from plant- based polyester plastic and was developed at the Kurobe Plant in Japan. By replacing polyester, the main material of the zipper, with one that is partly plant-based instead of the conventional all-fossil fuel- based material, this product reduces the use of fossil fuels and CO₂ emissions in the product cycle. The plant-based polyester used is derived from by- products (waste molasses) generated in the sugar production process, leading to the effective use of resources.
