The presentation will focus on current trends regarding development of textile materials as well as on technologies providing added value to textiles. The following topics will be addressed: smart – integration of electronic, luminescent and sensoric functions;  light – materials for reducing weight and increasing comfort; sustainable – strategies and technologies such as novel biobased materials.

Mr Dr. Matthias Konrad

Bayern Innovativ GmbH

Head of Life Science/Textile

Matthias Konrad is responsible for the network activities within the Textile and Health/Life Science sectors at Bayern Innovativ GmbH – a company founded on the initiative of the Bavarian state government and promoting the exchange of innovations across industries and technologies, supporting primarily small- and medium-sized companies in initiating innovations. He graduated in food chemistry at the University of Würzburg and received his Ph.D. in biochemistry at the Medical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg. Before he joined Bayern Innovativ in 1997 he had worked in the chemical industry.
