The success of efforts towards sustainability hinge on whether or not initiatives lead to action. Standards create a system to verify a company’s sustainability efforts throughout their supply chain. Ashley explains how efforts to address issues like natural resource use or animal welfare can be strongly supported through the use of independent, third-party certified standards like the Global Recycled Standard, Gobal Wool Standard or the Responsible Down Standard.

Ashley Gill has been with Textile Exchange since 2010. She works in the Industry Integrity team to develop and manage the TE-owned standards and to align the industry in issues dealing with verification of product claims related to sustainability. Ashley has led the revision process for the Global Recycled Standard 3.0 and has been involved in the development of standards to address animal welfare in the production of down and wool. Ashley has frequently spoken on topics of integrity and certification.
