From Renewable Resources to End-of-Life Solutions

LYCRA® fiber is an essential ingredient in fabric and garment making to provide stretch and comfort in various apparel applications. With the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles becoming a reality, the need for advanced and demonstrated technologies to manage the life cycle of textile products is one of the top priorities of the textile industry.
This presentation highlights The LYCRA Company's commitment to sustainable and circular solutions, including the bio-derived LYCRA® project that significantly reduces carbon footprint by using renewable resources while maintaining identical fiber properties.
Regarding end-of-life initiatives, we will report on our progresses in offering circularity options by showcasing recycling opportunities for LYCRA® fibers and developing new recycling technologies. Working with textile recyclers, these efforts aim to separate and recycle LYCRA® fiber, establishing sustainable loops for future expansion and commercialization.
By recognizing the inherent chemical properties of LYCRA® fiber, textile recycling processes can transform its presence into an opportunity, thereby advancing sustainable recycling solutions.
