Sponsored: AGXX: a new regulatory compliant antimicrobial technology on fabrics
Heraeus has developed AGXX over the last 5 years to offer a new level of textile functionalization - it protects textiles from microbial contamination and poor smells, therefore allows the garment to be worn for longer, in greater comfort. The catalytic redox reaction generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) to kill microorganisms. As the catalytic AGXX technology is neither based on metal ion leaching as conventional silver technologies nor on the release of any further environmentally harmful substances, it is not consumed over time and therefore has a long-lasting effect. Tested to be effective against more than 130 microorganisms including MRSA & E.coli - which is a step up from current applications. Compliant to Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), suitable for incorporation in Polyamide (Nylon) & Lyocell fibres, as well as textile finishings, e.g. on Polyester, the antimicrobial efficacy is not diminished after 100 washes. This presentation will also reveal the Martindale test results.
