Workshop

Preparing for a Moving Target: A Deep Dive into the Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation and Anticipated Ecodesign Requirements for Textiles

PERFORMANCE DAYS, Munich

Hall A2 - Workshop Area

Wednesday 23rd October 2024

15:30 - 17:00 CEST

Over the past year, EU institutions passed significant legislation impacting textiles and apparel.
The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is a crucial piece of legislation for the textile industry, with implementation required over the next 3 to 5 years. This Regulation affects all garments sold in the EU market, whether produced within or imported into the EU. Designers and fabric developers must understand and adapt to these new standards to comply—without compliance, operating in the EU market will not be possible.
Given that many of the pieces of legislation relevant for fabric designers are not adopted yet, it may feel very much like a moving-target to prepare for. However, given that suppliers will have to be ready and compliant before finished product manufacturers, it is critical to prepare.

This workshop will explain how designers and fabric developers can prepare and adapt to meet these upcoming eco-design requirements.
What we will cover:
- Core elements of the ESPR
- Key anticipated eco-design requirements
- How to prioritise and prepare internally for these essential eco-design standards
