Is the future of T2T recycling the vertically integrated model?

PERFORMANCE DAYS, Munich

Expert Talks

Thursday 19th March 2026

12:45 - 13:30 CET

The presentation argues that effective textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling requires a vertically integrated system that manages the entire supply chain—from textile waste collection and sorting to recycling and new product manufacturing. It highlights that post-consumer textile waste is complex and difficult to recycle due to inconsistent materials, lack of infrastructure, and missing data standards, making coordinated systems essential. The company TURNS proposes a digital, decentralized model that tracks waste streams, standardizes sorting, and enables companies to turn textile waste into new fibers, fabrics, and products.

CO-FOUNDER TURNS | since April 2023
TURNS is one of the leading innovators for high-quality textile-to-textile recycling in the DACH region. The start-up is developing a comprehensive management system that connects the entire recycling chain globally and transparently. This means that 360° circular solutions are already being implemented industrially today: from take-back and sorting to fibre-to-fibre recycling and the reintroduction of the recycled fibres obtained into new textile products. The aim is to integrate ecological, economic and social aspects along the entire value chain, thereby enabling the transformation of the European textile industry into a regionally anchored, scalable and transparent circular economy.

MY MISSION
Only 1% of all textiles are recycled. We establish structures for a circular textile economy. Transparent, traceable and – thanks to digitalisation – accessible to companies of all sizes. I develop circular business models that turn linear value chains into cycles. It takes courage to come up with radical solutions, new approaches and role models for real change.
