Goal: Provide attendees with an understanding of chemical legislation in relation to recycled materials through a panel discussion (40 mins) and a workshop (20 mins)
Synopsis: What are the risks of legacy chemicals in recycled materials and how will upcoming legislation address them? Join hosts Accelerating Circularity for a panel discussion and workshop showcasing the intersection of policy and safe chemistry. Spend time with chemical experts and debate industry peers how challenges can become opportunities.

Implementation Director

Klaas Nuttbohm is the Implementation Director at ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals), where he leads the Roadmap to Zero implementation programmes. As a key facilitator and accelerator for the implementation of ZDHC's Sustainable Chemical Management Framework, Klaas oversees major programmes such as Brands to Zero and Supplier to Zero, as well as the Sector Engagement. He works closely with brands, their supply chains, and key stakeholders to drive the harmonised implementation of sustainable chemical management practices, fostering positive environmental impact. Klaas holds an M.Sc. in Sustainability Sciences from Leuphana University of Lüneburg and brings a strategic focus to circularity and sustainable innovation in the textile and fashion industries.

Shelly is an apparel supply chain veteran, who understands the reality of how social and environmental policies translate on both the factory floor and the bottom line. Starting with Levi’s San Francisco, Shelly has served in sourcing/sustainability roles with leading global brands, including Patagonia, Crocs, Canada Goose and Roots.  As Chief Sustainability Officer with Outerknown, Shelly led this startup through Fair Labor Association (FLA) accreditation before manufacturing began – an FLA first. Her industry work includes chair or co-chair of working groups with Social Labor Convergence Program and the Accelerating Circularity Project, and advisor at Bard, the Responsible Business Alliance / Fordham University and Outdoor industry Association. Shelly is currently VP of Global Programs & Stakeholder Engagement at Acclertaing Circularity.

Technical Senior Director

Szilard Szarvas joined Hohenstein on June 1, 2024, as the Technical Director for Europe. In this role, he is responsible for technical support for sales, marketing, and business development for EU clients, particularly concerning the ECO PASSPORT and OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. Prior to joining Hohenstein, Szilard gained extensive experience at LS&Co., where he managed global initiatives related to the safe and sustainable use of chemicals in products.
