The new PSA Regulation came into force as from April 2018. It harmonises health and safety requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE) in all EU Member States and removes obstacles to trade in PPE between Member States. With regard to the manufacturing and distribution of functional textiles, it implicated a number of important innovations. The lecture is intended to give an insight into what the PPE regulation is, why it is important in connection with functional textiles and which kind of articles may be affected.

Birgit Jussen, born in 1970, is the owner of Quality Matters – Beratung für Nähtechnik & Qualität – in Düsseldorf/Germany since 2011. She is an officially appointed expert for textile/clothing technology and specialist in textile care. Her job includes the consulting and training of companies across the textile value chain as well as the provision of written technical expertise.  Furthermore, she is an editor for several professional journals.
