Due to the scarcity of raw materials and resources, sustainable product development is long overdue. Biodegradability of products plays a major role in a sustainable product value chain of the advanced circular economy – or so it does in the understanding of customers and companies. As inspiring as this concept might be, it is just part of the truth. To allow the benefits of biodegradability to really kick in, especially for apparel and its packaging, we have to know about the rest of the picture. In this presentation, we have a look on how to decide, when biodegradability should be part of a sustainability concept.
