Shine smart: Bright innovations for safer performance

Smart visibility solutions for fashion, sport, and workwear – with a strong sustainability focus - this Material Story goes deeper into "The Best of High Visibility". From urban fashion to performance sportswear and technical workwear – visibility is a crucial factor that enhances both safety and functionality. In this edition of PERFORMANCE DAYS Material Story, we showcase a curated selection of innovative high-visibility materials that prove: performance and sustainability are no longer a contradiction.

Whether it's for commuting, outdoor training, or protective wear, today's solutions go far beyond neon colors. They combine smart reflectivity, daylight energy conversion, and advanced material engineering – often using recycled or responsibly dyed components.

Highlights of this story include:

  • Silver reflective prints on elastic trims from Regine IQ Trims, offering functional design that can also integrate custom logos.
  • Innovative reflective details – Stylish glow-in-the-dark silicone prints and Pro Stretch Trims’ reflective technology enhance nighttime visibility by storing daylight energy – no external power source needed and no compromise on design.
  • A PU reflective coated fabric from JRC – wind-resistant, colored, and ideal for stylish outerwear applications.
  • A high-visibility 3-layer softshell from Kinshan Sanchuan Hi-Tech, made entirely from recycled materials: ripstop outer, TPE membrane, and fleece backer.
  • Reflective cords made from recycled PES by Frameless Asia Pacific Ltd., adding subtle visibility to accessories or garment details.
  • Dope-dyed high-visibility elastic webbing by e.dye, combining vivid color performance with significant water and chemical savings.

This Material Story underlines the evolution of high-visibility design: from purely functional to consciously progressive – paving the way for collections that are as responsible as they are reliable.

Recycling polyester at scale – What’s next for workwear?

As demand for durable, high-visibility workwear grows, so does the need for sustainable solutions. Mechanical and thermomechanical recycling technologies for polyester are now operating at industrial scale worldwide – but how effective are they, and what challenges remain?

The "WSA-Panel: Fibre-to-fibre at scale" at last spring´s PERFORMANCE DAYS, moderated by freelance journalist and WSA technical editor Sophie Bramel, brings together leading voices from the field:

  • Koen de RuyckPurFi
  • Samuel GoldsteinEarth Protex
  • Tim CrossRe:Claim

Together, they’ll explore the latest developments, opportunities, and limitations of these low-impact methods, discuss the importance of legacy systems, and examine how certifications can help build consumer trust in recycled materials.

Join us here to discover how innovation and circularity are reshaping the future of workwear.

Trend Forums - are you ready to prepare your samples?

The next Jury Meeting for the Forums at PERFORMANCE DAYS this October is fast approaching! Make sure to complete your preparations soon to stay on track with all upcoming deadlines. The deadline for sample arrival at our office is August 29, 2025. Once exhibitor accounts open around mid-July, you’ll be able to submit your samples digitally. Our Focus Topic for October will be Textile to Textile - The Role of Recyclers. We would like to dive into the current landscape of T2T recycling: exploring material flows, emerging technologies, and the challenges and opportunities shaping this field. We aim to highlight real progress and pinpoint where innovation is still needed to help circular systems scale effectively.

All information about the exhibitor breifing for next Trend Forum sample submissions you can find here!
