TERRAIN VAGUE
At the time of writing, life is still on pause. Sitting “in here” to prepare the pages of our e-magazine addressing an industry which offers products for being active “out there” makes me again aware of the importance of nature for the physical and mental well-being of humans. It is great to work in an industry which has a true purpose (and always had). Practising sport supports people’s health. No matter what kind of sports: well-being sports, competitive sports or challenging expeditions across the globe.
But the “out there” is in danger. We have pushed our boundaries too far and forgot the borders of the Blue Planet. Living with the pandemic shows that we have to question profoundly our economic system and its structures. Consumption and production patterns have to be changed. There is no way back to Pre-Covid-19 times.
Driving the long overdue substantial transformation is the biggest challenge and we have to be front-runners. Sport is deeply rooted in nature “out there”, nature is our playing field. Moreover, we humans, too, are rooted in nature, even more: we are part of the “out there”, of this beautiful playing field – and “in here”, in this playing field we have to we respect boundaries and rules.
The pandemic has revealed the vulnerability and fragility of humans. We know how to provide protection, we develop ever more items with protective properties (even anti-viral). What about nature’s fragility and protection? If nature is in danger, we are too.
Let´s enter the TERRAIN VAGUE of our future with trust and creativity. Taking care of our home base with wisdom and responsibility.
