Reducing the impact of textile products on the environment is becoming increasingly important for the textile industry. The main interest is focussed on biodegradable products and fibres from sustainable sources. The biodegradation of textiles based on soil burial tests provides important information on the decay properties of a product along with the ecotoxicological risks and it can be used for evaluation a product´s ecological functionality.
