Breathable heat retention technology – Warmth without bulk
Humans lose about 60% of body heat through thermal radiation. In order to stay warm, thick insulations made out of down, synthetic or fleece are typically used in outerwear to reduce heat loss. For the active person or traveler, the goal is to find the same warmth without all the bulk.
HeiQ and Australian material innovator Xefco present HeiQ XReflex – an innovative radiant barrier technology that allows outerwear, midlayers, sleeping bags, etc. to maintain the required level of warmth while reducing bulk by as much as 50%. With an ultra-thin reflective surface, HeiQ XReflex reflects the body heat, increasing the thermal resistance and allowing maximum breathability, and reducing raw materials consumption.

About the workshop organizer
Tom co-founded Xefco in 2018 and serves as the organisation’s CEO providing targeted solutions to key technical challenges present in the textile industry. As the former Head of Research & Development at Zhik Pty Ltd, Tom was responsible for driving the company’s strategic innovation agenda in developing unique material and apparel technologies. Tom holds a Degree in Industrial Design with first class honours from the University of Technology Sydney and has a background in engineering and mechanical design of composite components.
